I woke up this morning with the thought "the next funeral I go to will be John Q.'s". My next thought was "nice thought to wake up to, where did that come from?"

The phone rang at 7:30 this morning and John had quit breathing during the night and all attempts to revive failed. Our friend has passed.

Honestly its a blessing, but it still hurts. Dave is with the family now. I just wasn't ready to see them yet, I'll go later today.

Through the tears the smiles still come .... thinking of John you can't help but smile. A true mountain man to the core. Intelligent, kind, hard working, helpful and very funny he will be a legend in this valley. Everyone knew John. You either liked him or you didn't. It was always hard to believe that some folks didn't like him but thats life, isn't it? There will always be those you don't mesh with. And in an area such as this where the bloodlines run deep there will always be issues.

I will remember him strong and healthy. Handsome and smiling. Always with a plan and a book in hand. He loved to read. He loved to learn. He loved to laugh.

Sorry to burden you all with this post .... but for me this is a healthy way of dealing with my feelings, I can't hold things in. Thanks for listening.
