There will no memorial / funeral service for our friend.  His children decided it is not something that he would have wanted.  Instead his son & daughter will take a long walk in the mountains their father loved and scatter his ashes there ... alone.  I think they are probably right ... Dan would have wanted it this way.  So for me .... I will say my goodbye's in my heart.  I will remember his eccentric ways and his humor.  I will remember his gruff exterior and his marshmellow insides.  We are going to miss you Dan.

I hope when I pass that there will be someone to "take a long walk" with me into the mountains I so dearly love and leave me there.  That would be the right thing for me as well ......
